In April 2022, I moved to Barcelona, a city so full of history, culture, and diversity that it’s naturally become my new home. That turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me because, beyond the world of of teaching and technology, I’m passionate about experiences that make life rich and meaningful.
Arts & Culture
I studied piano for twelve years, graduating with distinctions from both the South African College of Music and my final University of South Africa exam. This classical training shaped my appreciation for all forms of artistic expression.
As a theatre enthusiast, I served a six-year term as a judge for the prestigious Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards and have attended well over one thousand theatre and concert performances throughout my career. This deep immersion in the arts earned me a Silver Award (Special Merit for Online Innovation) at South Africa’s Arts Journalist of the Year in 2014.
Food & Wine
My curiosity extends to culinary experiences. I was one of the first winners of Eat Out’s review of the month competition in 2014 and earned a distinction in the Cape Wine Ambassador course. Now based in Barcelona, I continue exploring the intersection of food, culture, and storytelling.
Travel & Photography
Travel writing has taken me across continents, working with destination marketers, global airlines, hospitality providers, and tourism boards to capture the essence of places through words and images. I earned distinctions in photography from the Shaw Academy and won the Excellence in Journalism Award from the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association in 2017. I also created and hosted the award-winning Cape Town Travel Guide podcast during my years in South Africa. While the podcast is no longer active, the spirit of exploration continues in everything I do.
Creative Ventures
Through La Farándula Actores, I occasionally take on creative projects as an event emcee, panel discussion moderator, corporate speaker, commercial actor, or voiceover artist. These experiences remind me that effective communication, whether in a boardroom or on a stage, is ultimately about connecting with people. More than that, I believe that the best insights come from genuine curiosity about the world around us. Every experience adds another layer to the stories I can tell and the connections I can make.
