Beyond the serious world of data science and curriculum development, I’m passionate about the arts, culture, and experiences that make life interesting. I’ve written about travel, leisure, food, drinks, television, film, music, theatre, art, and books.
I studied piano for twelve years, graduating with distinctions from both the South African College of Music and my final University of South Africa exam. My love for the arts led me to serve a six-year term as a judge for the Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards, and I’ve seen nearly well over one thousand theatre and concert performances since beginning my journalism career. I won a Silver Award (Special Merit for Online Innovation) at South Africa’s Arts Journalist of the Year in 2014.
I was one of the first winners of Eat Out’s review of the month competition in 2014 and received a distinction for my Cape Wine Ambassador course. I continue to review restaurants and promote brands through my social media channels, always on the hunt for the next great meal.
I’ve earned distinctions in photography from the Shaw Academy and won the Excellence in Journalism Award from the International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association in 2017. I currently work with destination marketers, global airlines, hospitality providers, and tourism boards to showcase locations and experiences around the world. I was also the creator and host of the award-winning Cape Town Travel Guide podcast (no longer active since I don’t live there anymore!).
Through La Farandula, I’m available as an event emcee, panel discussion moderator, corporate speaker, television actor, print model, or voiceover artist. Whether it’s discovering a hidden restaurant in Barcelona, attending opening night at the theatre, or finding the perfect angle for a travel photograph, I believe the best stories come from genuine curiosity about the world around us.
