June 2019: 7 stories in 3 publications

We’re halfway through the year but a new journey has just begun!

This month, Cape Town Travel Guide focuses on food, including the best restaurants in Hermanus and the Overberg, the best restaurants on the Garden Route, and the best restaurants for families with kids.

There’s also a round-up of best drinks for June and a review of La Colombe, recently awarded on the World‘s 50 Best Restaurants extended list. It’s one of many places you’ll find winter specials in Cape Town. Further afield, you can also enjoy something special this winter with Tintswalo at Lapalala.

Last month, I shared several features on how social media is negatively impacting our lives. If you want to keep living the life of a digital native rather than develop your nonverbal skills by interacting in the real world, at least know who you can’t insult on Facebook, when Twitter will finally change, why it’s hard to police YouTube, how much of the internet is fake, and what to do about online trolls.

But if you’re ready to try something new, I’ve just launched the Cape Town Travel Guide podcast! It’s an uncertain journey but one I’m excited to take. As Dashiell Hammett writes in Red Harvest, our book recommendation for this month:

“Plans are all right sometimes. And sometimes just stirring things up is all right – if you’re tough enough to survive, and keep your eyes open so you’ll see what you want when it comes to the top.”

Let’s get this show on the road!
