Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra: Spring Symphony Season 2017

The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Spring Symphony Season includes four symphony concerts at Cape Town City Hall.

The season begins on Thursday 24 August with conductor Bernhard Gueller leading the orchestra in Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, Rachmaninov’s Romance, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3. Lucienne Renaudin Vary is the soloist in Hummel’s Concerto for Trumpet.

On Thursday 31 August, Gueller leads the orchestra in Wagner’s Overture to Tannhäuser and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8. Daniel Kharitonov is the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

On Thursday 7 September, Conrad van Alphen leads the orchestra Hendrik Hofmeyr’s “The Elements” and Borodin Symphony’s No. 2. Marina Grauman is the soloist in Sibelius’s Violin Concerto.

On Thursday 14 September, Van Alphen leads the orchestra in Wilhelm Grosz’s “Serenade”and Strauss’s “Also sprach Zarathustra”. Alexey Stadler is the soloist in Schumann’s Cello Concerto.
