August 2019: 8 stories in 5 publications

Stellenbosch, sleep, and so much more in this month’s newsletter!

After getting some inspiration from Travel Noire, a company on a mission to change the face of travel, we explore the beauty in the bush with Tintswalo at Lapalala (one place you won’t experience overtourism in Africa) and the historic Cellars-Hohenort in Cape Town.

Indeed, there’s lots to experience in and around the city with the Cape Town Travel Guide podcast, from the best wine estates in Constantia and the best restaurants in Stellenbosch to the best pub specials in the Western Cape and the best winter events at the V&A Waterfront.

Last month, we spoke about how to stop focusing on troubled tech companies and their leaders going through Silicon Valley’s crisis of conscience. You’re far better off focusing on your health, bearing in mind that it’s always best to consult a medical professional before making any radical changes to your diet or training plan.

The first step is to eat well, perhaps saying no to caffeine and yes to ‘alt’ meat. Then you should exercise even when your body says no. Finally, get some rest, because sleep is your superpower.

It’s much like Dashiell Hammett writes in The Maltese Falcon, our book recommendation for the month:

“Men are likely to forget in the heat of action where their best interest lies and let their emotions carry them away.”

Always remember what matters most to you.
